Frequent Questions

Absolutely not. Choosing to see a therapist is a courageous and empowering decision—it’s a sign of strength, not weakness. While friends and family can offer support, therapy provides a unique space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences without judgment.

Therapists are trained to help you navigate life’s challenges and provide tools to promote personal growth and healing. Seeking therapy doesn’t mean you’ve failed; it means you care about your well-being and are taking proactive steps toward a healthier, happier you.

Remember, mental health is just as important as physical health. Just as you wouldn’t feel ashamed to see a doctor for a physical ailment, there’s no shame in seeking therapy to care for your emotional and mental health. We’re here to support you every step of the way.

Online therapy offers many benefits, making mental health support more accessible and convenient:

  1. Convenience: You can attend sessions from the comfort of your own home, saving time and reducing the stress of travel.
  2. Flexibility: Online therapy allows for more scheduling options, which can be helpful if you have a busy lifestyle.
  3. Privacy and Comfort: Being in a familiar environment can help you feel more relaxed and open during sessions.
  4. Accessibility: For those with mobility issues or living in areas with limited access to mental health services, online therapy provides a valuable alternative.
  5. Increased Availability: You have the option to work with a therapist who may not be local to your area, allowing you to find the best fit for your needs.

Online therapy is just as effective as in-person sessions, offering the same level of confidentiality and professionalism, while making it easier to prioritize your mental health on your own terms.

Unfortunately, no. While virtual therapy offers flexibility, it’s important to note that therapists are required to be licensed in the state where the client is physically located during the session. For example, as a therapist licensed in Missouri, I can only provide services to clients who are physically in Missouri during our sessions.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions about how licensure may affect your therapy sessions.

Great! Getting started is simple:

  1. Schedule Your Free 15-Minute Consultation: Use our online booking system to select a time that works for you. This consultation is an opportunity to discuss your needs and determine if we’re the right fit.
  2. Complete the Pre-Consultation Form: Once you book your consultation, I’ll send you a short form to fill out before our meeting. This helps us make the most of our time together. Please complete this no later than 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment time.

**Please Note: If you need to cancel or reschedule your consultation, kindly provide at least 24 hours' notice. This courtesy allows me to open the time for others who may be waiting to schedule.

After the Consultation:
Once we’ve completed your free consultation, if we agree to move forward together:

  • Next steps: We'll determine a good time to schedule your first session. You’ll also receive necessary forms and instructions to prepare for your first session. This ensures we start with a clear understanding of your needs and goals.
  • Ongoing Communication: I’ll remain available to answer any questions or address concerns before your first session so you feel confident moving forward.

I look forward to connecting with you and supporting your journey toward healing and growth!

Great question! The free initial consultation is an important step in our process. While my online presence can give you a sense of who I am and how I work, the consultation helps us ensure that we’re a good fit for each other.

Think of entering a therapeutic relationship like entering a committed partnership. Just as you wouldn’t rush into a relationship without understanding the other person’s values, needs, and how you communicate, the consultation serves as a way to ensure we’re both aligned in our goals and approach.

This initial conversation is crucial because therapy, like any committed relationship, requires trust, collaboration, and mutual understanding. It gives us the opportunity to discuss your unique challenges, how we can work together, and whether my approach fits your needs. It’s not just about feeling comfortable—it's about ensuring that both you and I are ready for the work ahead.

The consultation sets the stage for a strong therapeutic partnership, helping us determine if we are a good fit to support your healing and growth journey.

The cost of your sessions will depend on your insurance provider and plan. I partner with a billing service to handle the processing of insurance claims. They ensure that you’re charged according to your plan's coverage.

It’s essential that you reach out to your insurance company directly to confirm your benefits, including your copayment, deductible, and any co-insurance. While I’m happy to assist with general questions, you are ultimately responsible for understanding your insurance coverage and any associated costs.

If you have any questions about the billing process or need help verifying your benefits, feel free to contact me. I’m here to help ensure a smooth experience, but please keep in mind that verifying and understanding your insurance details is your responsibility.

Preparing for your virtual therapy session can help you feel more focused and comfortable. Here are a few tips:

  1. Find a Quiet, Private Space: Choose a location where you won’t be interrupted and where you feel safe to speak openly.
  2. Check Your Technology: Ensure your internet connection is stable, and test your camera and microphone ahead of time.
  3. Have Your Materials Ready: If you plan to discuss specific topics or bring up questions, have any notes or journals handy.
  4. Be Ready to Talk: Reflect on what you’d like to focus on in the session—whether it’s a challenge you’re facing or progress you’d like to discuss.
  5. Set Your Intentions: Think about what you hope to get out of the session and come with an open mind.

Taking these steps can help you get the most out of your virtual therapy session and ensure a smooth and productive experience.
